Editorial Policy

How our guides are researched, written, checked, updated and corrected — and what we never do.

Our goal is simple: give accurate, useful answers about fabric and clothing that a reader can act on. This page explains how we work towards that.

Who writes our guides

Guides are written and reviewed by Kamrul Islam, a textile engineer who has worked in industrial dyeing and fabric development since 2012. His name, role and the date of the last review appear on every guide.

How a guide is made

  1. Choose the question. We cover questions real people search for and ask us — shrinking, fading, pilling, fit, comfort and care.
  2. Start from the fabric. We explain the fiber, yarn, construction, dye and finish behind the problem, using industry standards and technical references.
  3. Add evidence. Where possible we include our own test results, with the method named (see how we test), and practical observations from production work.
  4. Write it plainly. Technical terms are explained the first time they appear. Diagrams are used where they make a cause or process easier to see.
  5. Check it. Facts, figures and care advice are checked against standards, care-labelling rules and fiber references before publishing.

Use of software tools

We use software tools — including AI writing assistants — to help research, organise and draft some text. Every guide is reviewed, corrected and approved by our author before it is published, and all test results come from real tests, never from software. We do not publish content that has not been reviewed by a person with textile expertise.

Independence

  • No brand, retailer or advertiser pays for coverage, a mention or a rating.
  • We do not accept paid guest posts or paid links.
  • Advertising is placed by ad networks and has no influence on what we write.
  • If we ever include affiliate links, the page will say so before the first link, and the recommendation will be the same with or without the link.

Updates and corrections

We review guides regularly and when standards, products or our test data change. The “Updated” date on a guide shows the last meaningful review.

If you find an error, please contact us. Factual errors are corrected as soon as they are confirmed; significant corrections are noted at the end of the guide.

Health and safety topics

Some guides touch on skin comfort, irritation or allergies. These describe fabric properties only and are not medical advice. If you have a skin condition, speak to a doctor or dermatologist.
